Get ready for the roar of engines as the Indian Racing Festival (IRF) returns, bringing with it the highly anticipated Indian Racing League (IRL). This year’s festival promises a thrilling spectacle with six city-based teams competing in the world’s first gender-neutral franchise-based league.
The IRL boasts a unique format, with each team consisting of two Indian and two foreign racers, ensuring a diverse and competitive field. The roster includes established names like Indian racers Akhil Rabindra and Nikhil Bohra, alongside international talent like Swiss driver Neel Jani. This year, the festival will see the return of talented drivers Fabienne Wolhwend and Gabriel Jilkova, aiming to emulate the historic achievement of Sarah Moore, who became the first female race winner in IRL history in 2023.
The action kicks off on August 24-25 at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) for the inaugural race. Following this, India will witness its first-ever night race at the Chennai Formula Racing Circuit on August 31-September 1, adding a new dimension to the competition.
The six participating teams are:
* Kolkata Royal Tigers (Kolkata)
* Speed Demons Delhi (Delhi)
* Goa Aces JA Racing (Goa)
* Hyderabad Blackbirds (Hyderabad)
* Chennai Turbo Riders (Chennai)
* Bangalore Speedsters (Bengaluru)
With a mix of experienced and rising stars, and the excitement of a night race, the Indian Racing League is set to captivate audiences and showcase the growing talent within Indian motorsport. The festival promises to be a thrilling celebration of speed, skill, and the pursuit of victory.
