To manage the expected surge in passenger travel during the upcoming festive season, Indian Railways has announced the operation of hundreds of special trains. These trains are scheduled to run during major festivals including Diwali, Durga Puja, Ganesh Chaturthi, Onam, and Chhath Puja.
The Southern Railway has already taken steps to address the expected rush by announcing two weekly special trains connecting Dr. MGR Chennai Central to Santragachi. These trains will run for three months starting from September and will operate every Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
Advance reservations for these special trains are open, and passengers are encouraged to book their tickets in advance to ensure their travel plans.
In addition to the Southern Railway’s initiative, the Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) is also set to operate seven special trains in September to cater to the expected surge in passengers traveling during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. These trains will offer daily services connecting Mumbai to various destinations within the Konkan region.
The KRCL special trains will offer convenient travel options for those who want to visit their hometowns during the ten-day festival, which is scheduled to begin on September 7th. Details regarding the timings and stoppages of these trains are available on the official websites of the Southern Railway and KRCL.
This initiative by the Indian Railways demonstrates its commitment to providing convenient and efficient travel services to passengers during the festive season. By operating special trains, the railways aims to ensure a smooth and comfortable travel experience for all travelers during these busy periods.
