Indian security forces have successfully thwarted an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Keran sector of Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara, killing two terrorists. The Chinar Corps, Indian Army, confirmed the successful prevention of the infiltration attempt, stating that the anti-infiltration operations are still ongoing.
This incident comes days after two Indian Army soldiers were injured in an encounter with terrorists in the Kastigarh area of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir. The injured soldiers were initially treated at a government hospital in Doda and later airlifted to an Army hospital via an Army chopper. Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ramban-Doda Range, Shridhar Patil, visited the encounter site in Kashtigarh and confirmed that a search operation is underway. He mentioned that it’s too early to share further details as the operation is ongoing, but assured that they will soon be successful.
The encounter in Doda follows a previous deadly incident on Tuesday, where four army soldiers, including an officer, were killed while battling terrorists. On July 15, based on specific intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched by the Indian Army and JK Police in an area north of Doda. The contact with terrorists was established around 9 pm, leading to a heavy firefight. The deceased soldiers have been identified as Captain Brijesh Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, Sepoy Bijendra, and Sepoy Ajay.
On July 16, Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Northern Army Commander, laid a wreath in honor of the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the line of duty to maintain peace in the region during the counter-terrorist operation in Doda.
