Indian shooters continued their dominant performance at the ISSF Junior World Championship in Lima, Peru, adding five more medals to their tally, including two gold, in the women’s 25m standard pistol event. Leading the charge was Divanshi, who secured her second individual gold medal in the competition with a score of 564 out of 600. Her teammate, Parisha Gupta, finished in second place with 559, while Manvi Jain secured the bronze medal with 557 points. This impressive feat marked the first time an Indian team achieved a clean sweep in the competition.
The dominance didn’t stop there. Shikha Chaudhary, with a score of 554, narrowly edged out Marja Kirss of Estonia to secure fourth place. In the men’s 25m standard pistol event, Suraj Sharma added another gold to India’s medal haul, shooting 571 points to take the top spot. He edged out Ivan Rakistski of Poland, who claimed silver with 568 points. Mukesh Nelavalli, who already boasts four gold medals in the championship, secured the bronze with a score of 568.
While the Indian women’s team achieved a clean sweep in the 25m standard pistol event, they finished in sixth place in the team competition for the junior women’s 50m rifle prone event. Melvina Joel Gladson led the Indian contingent with a score of 617.5, placing her 14th overall. Prachi Gaikwad, Khushi, Aadhya Agrawal, and Anoushka Thokur finished 19th, 26th, 27th, and 35th respectively.
The Indian shooters are showcasing their talent and dedication on the international stage, further solidifying India’s position as a force to be reckoned with in the world of shooting sports.
