Four Indian tennis players will be taking part in the men’s doubles main draw at Wimbledon 2024. Rohan Bopanna, partnering with Matthew Ebden, will aim to make a strong showing after their early exit in the previous tournament. Sumit Nagal will team up with Dusan Lajovic, while Yuki Bhambri will compete alongside Albano Olivetti. N. Sriram Balaji will be joined by Luke Johnson.
Bopanna’s previous doubles partner, Balaji, was initially considered for the Wimbledon competition as well. Bopanna, having qualified as a top-10 doubles player, initially kept his partner choice confidential before confirming Balaji as his partner. However, this pairing ultimately did not come to fruition.
Meanwhile, Sumit Nagal has achieved a significant milestone, reaching a new career-high ranking of 71 in the latest ATP Rankings. This makes him the joint-fourth highest-ranked Indian man since the introduction of the computerised ranking system in 1973. Nagal’s recent success includes clinching his sixth Challenger Tour title in Heilbronn, Germany, which has likely secured him a spot at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
With a strong lineup of Indian players, Wimbledon 2024 promises to be an exciting competition for Indian tennis fans. The tournament will see a mix of experienced players and rising stars competing for the prestigious title. This tournament will also serve as a platform for Indian players to showcase their skills and compete against the world’s best.
