Bopanna’s previous doubles partner, Balaji, was initially considered for the Wimbledon competition as well. Bopanna, having qualified as a top-10 doubles player, initially kept his partner choice confidential before confirming Balaji as his partner. However, this pairing ultimately did not come to fruition.
Meanwhile, Sumit Nagal has achieved a significant milestone, reaching a new career-high ranking of 71 in the latest ATP Rankings. This makes him the joint-fourth highest-ranked Indian man since the introduction of the computerised ranking system in 1973. Nagal’s recent success includes clinching his sixth Challenger Tour title in Heilbronn, Germany, which has likely secured him a spot at the upcoming Paris Olympics.
