India will be represented by seven badminton players at the 2024 Paris Olympics, continuing their quest for medals after securing silver and two bronze medals in the past three editions. Leading the charge is P.V. Sindhu, who will be participating in her third consecutive Olympics. Having won a silver in Rio de Janeiro in 2016 and a bronze in Tokyo in 2021, Sindhu currently sits 12th among the top 16 women’s singles players who have automatically qualified for Paris.
In the men’s singles category, India will be represented by H.S. Prannoy and Lakshya Sen, who secured the ninth and 13th spots respectively, earning them automatic qualification. The formidable doubles pairing of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, Asian Games gold medalists, are ranked third among the top eight men’s doubles pairs who have secured automatic qualification. Adding to India’s strength in doubles, Ashwini Ponnappa and Tanisha Crasto have also qualified for the women’s doubles event.
