The content creator economy in India is thriving, valued between $75 and $150 million. YouTube content has experienced a remarkable 40% hourly growth as of December 2022, contributing approximately Rs 16,000 crore to the Indian GDP and supporting around 7.5 lakh full-time jobs.
Market analysts predict that the Indian creator economy will continue to flourish, reaching $3926.2 million by 2030 at a CAGR of 22%. Notably, many prominent content creators from YouTube and other platforms have gained immense popularity, with some even venturing into Bollywood.
Various agencies have estimated the net worth of the top five Indian content creators with significant followings. Comedian CarryMinati (Ajey Nagar) holds a net worth of Rs 50 crore, while influencer and podcaster BeerBiceps (Ranveer Allahbadia) ranks fourth with Rs 59 crore. BB Ki Vines fame Bhuvan Bam comes in third with a net worth of Rs 122 crore. Gaurav Chaudhari, known as Technical Guruji, has accumulated a net worth of Rs 356 crore.
However, standup comic, investor, and the mastermind behind viral ad campaigns, Tanmay Bhat, reigns supreme with a staggering net worth of Rs 665 crore. Responding to the announcement on Twitter, Bhat humorously commented with a series of laughing emojis.
36-year-old Tanmay Bhat, hailed as the new creative king of desi advertising, initially launched All India Bakchod (AIB) as a YouTube channel in 2013. He returned to the platform with vigor during the COVID-19 pandemic, creating new content, streaming games, and reacting to desi memes with friends. However, a year prior, Bhat faced controversy for allegedly neglecting to take action against a colleague in the 2018 #metoo movement on Twitter.
