India’s Finance Minister to Attend AIIB Meeting in Uzbekistan

India’s Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be making an official visit to Uzbekistan from September 24th to 28th. The purpose of her trip is to attend the 9th Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which is scheduled to take place in Samarkand on September 25th and 26th.

This significant gathering will bring together delegates from approximately 80 countries and various international organizations, making it a prime opportunity for collaboration and discussion on pressing global issues.

During her visit, Sitharaman is expected to meet with the AIIB President and engage in bilateral discussions with her counterparts from Uzbekistan, Qatar, and China. This engagement will offer valuable platforms for fostering stronger diplomatic relationships and exploring potential areas of cooperation.

The Indian government has emphasized the importance of the AIIB meeting, highlighting India’s role as the second-largest shareholder in the bank. The finance ministry’s statement emphasizes the significance of multilateral discussions focusing on global issues relevant to the development agenda.
