India’s Intercontinental Cup Preparation: Manolo Marquez Expresses Concerns

India’s senior national team manager, Manolo Marquez, expressed concerns about the limited preparation time leading up to the Intercontinental Cup. Speaking in Hyderabad on the eve of India’s match against Mauritius, Marquez acknowledged the team’s tight schedule. “With two training sessions, it is difficult to change much,” he stated, highlighting the challenge of integrating players from different clubs with varying playing styles. “We have players from about 7-8 different teams, each playing their different style.”

Despite the challenges, Marquez remains optimistic about the future, hoping for better coordination between the national team and club commitments. He expressed his belief that things will be more streamlined during the second FIFA window, coinciding with the Indian Super League (ISL) season.

Marquez also addressed comparisons to his predecessor, Igor Stimac, emphasizing his positive relationship with the Croatian coach. He dismissed the need for comparisons, stating that he focuses on his own coaching style and approach to the team.
