India’s NSA Doval in Sri Lanka for Colombo Security Conclave

India’s National Security Advisor (NSA), Ajit Doval, arrived in Sri Lanka on Thursday to participate in the Colombo Security Conclave, scheduled for Friday. His visit underscores India’s commitment to regional security and collaboration.

Doval met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential Secretariat on Friday morning. The two leaders discussed the ongoing economic cooperation between India and Sri Lanka, highlighting the importance of bilateral partnerships.

The Colombo Security Conclave brings together top security officials from India, Sri Lanka, Maldives, and Mauritius. It provides a platform for these nations to discuss critical security issues in the Indian Ocean region. The conclave’s agenda focuses on maritime security, counter-terrorism efforts, and cybersecurity, addressing shared concerns and fostering cooperation.

During his visit, Doval is reviewing the deliberations of the Colombo Security Conclave, which initially began as a trilateral initiative involving India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives. The conclave has since expanded its membership, with Bangladesh and Seychelles holding observer status.
