Starting Monday, July 22, Indigo Airlines flights from Pune to Delhi will be operating from the new terminal building at Pune Airport. The new terminal, which began operations on July 14, was initially used for flights to New Delhi and Bhubaneswar.
In a tweet, Pune Airport announced the shift, stating, “Attention passengers! Starting July 22, 2024, @PuneAirport is shifting some of the Indigo flights between Pune and Delhi to the New Integrated Terminal Building.” The affected flight numbers are 6E-2618, 6E-2418, 6E-2343, 6E-2419, 6E-2471, 6E-5261, 6E-2273, 6E-2278, 6E-2674, and 6E-2279.
Santosh Dhoke, director of Pune Airport, urged passengers on these flights to check-in at the new terminal building, highlighting its modern facilities and amenities designed for a smooth and enjoyable travel experience.
The new terminal, which cost ₹ 423 crore to build, covers a sprawling 52,000 square meters, compared to the current terminal’s 22,000 square meters. This expansion allows the airport to handle up to 9 million passengers annually, a substantial increase from the current capacity of 7 million.
The terminal boasts a range of modern features, including ten aerobridges for seamless boarding, centralized air-conditioning for comfortable travel, five baggage carousels, two dedicated to international arrivals, 34 check-in counters, and 25 self-check-in stations. Adding a touch of local culture, the terminal is adorned with murals depicting the region’s rich heritage.
The new terminal was officially inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi via video conferencing on March 10. The first flights to operate from the new terminal were Air India’s AI-858 to New Delhi and Air India Express’ I5 320 to Bhubaneswar.
