Industry Veteran Justin Di Palo Re-Joins Syska Hennessy Group As Co-Lead of National Sustainability Practice

Justin Di Palo, a LEED AP, WELL AP, and EcoDistricts Accredited Professional, has returned to Syska Hennessy Group, an international engineering firm, as Co-Lead of its National Sustainability Practice and Associate Partner. Di Palo possesses substantial expertise in energy modeling, decarbonization, and high-performance design and will work alongside sustainability expert and technical manager Robert Ioanna, the other co-lead of the sustainability practice, to oversee Syska’s team of technical sustainability experts across the firm.

Di Palo’s responsibilities include educating colleagues and peers in the A/E/C industry about cutting-edge techniques in high-performance design. From 2017 to 2022, Di Palo served as a mechanical engineer and energy analyst at Syska’s office, contributing to projects in various sectors, including healthcare, commercial, aviation, civic, and higher education. He played a pivotal role in designing energy-efficient and sustainable buildings, such as the net-zero energy County of San Diego Live Well Health Center, a Santa Monica City Services office, and a LEED Gold police facility at LAX Airport.

Syska Hennessy Group’s Executive Principal and Head of Western Region, Tim Regan, expressed his enthusiasm about Di Palo’s return, stating that his expertise and dedication to sustainability will further drive the company’s commitment to incorporating sustainable practices into every project. Robert Ioanna, Executive Principal and Chief Technical Officer, emphasized Di Palo’s timely return as the company expands its Expert Teams program, which facilitates knowledge-sharing internally and externally.

A resident of San Diego, California, Di Palo holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in mechanical engineering from the University of California, San Diego.
