An influencer has found herself facing backlash on social media for filming a video during a street fight. The incident occurred at The Ridge, a popular open space in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, known for hosting cultural events. Nikhil Saini, a user on X (formerly Twitter), shared a 20-second video of the influencer, urging authorities to take action and protect public spaces.
The video, which has gone viral, shows a group of people involved in a violent altercation, pulling each other’s hair. Saini expressed his frustration, stating, “Over the last 2-3 years, Shimla’s Ridge has become a hotspot for cringe activities. Reel makers have taken over this place, and daily such nonsense videos are made.”
Many social media users reacted with outrage to the influencer’s actions. One user wrote, “These iconic spots deserve respect and preservation. At least, a homeguard or police personnel should be stationed there to manage and prevent such misuse.” Another user expressed their disappointment, saying, “This is so insensitive & inhumane. Pathetic. Unfortunately, nothing can be done to such people in Law.”
Some users criticized the government for not taking action against such behavior. One user wrote, “The government has made HP police handicapped to let hooligans create nuisance in the State. Ridge Shimla is just an example, in every tourist destination in HP these people are creating trouble and our CM says they are our guests and treat them softly.”
However, not everyone condemned the influencer. One user defended her actions, stating, “She is pointing out lawlessness in the ridge culprits must be punished she is whistle blower.” Others found the situation humorous, with one user writing, “This is so funny. Sorry I know I shouldn’t be laughing but…” while another wrote, “maza toh aya isse dekh ke (She’s funny for sure).”
The incident has sparked a conversation about the role of influencers in public spaces and the need for stricter laws to prevent disruptive behavior. It remains to be seen whether authorities will take action against the influencer or implement new regulations to safeguard public spaces from such incidents.
