In Game 2 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Orlando Magic faced a major scare with their top perimeter defender, Jalen Suggs.
During the first quarter, Suggs collided with Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell. The impact led to Suggs crumpling to the ground in pain and clutching his left knee. A video of the incident appeared to show Suggs suffering a hyperextension.
Suggs was unable to bear weight on his knee and had to be carried off the court by teammates. While not the Magic’s leading scorer, Suggs is a vital contributor with strong defense and an ability to set the tone for the team. An extended absence would significantly hinder Orlando’s chances of upsetting Cleveland.
The Magic have a two-day break before Game 3 in Orlando on Thursday. However, based on the severity of the injury, it is uncertain when Suggs will be able to return.
