Intel’s Panther Lake CPUs: Leaked Specs Reveal Core Counts, Xe GPU Details

Intel’s Panther Lake CPUs, the successor to Meteor Lake, have been making headlines with rumors about their capabilities and release timeline. We now have some concrete information about the configurations of these next-generation processors, gleaned from a Coreboot patch.

Firstly, Intel will unveil its Core Ultra 200V series “Lunar Lake” CPUs later this month for laptops, followed by the desktop-oriented Core Ultra 200 series “Arrow Lake” CPUs later this year. It’s the Core Ultra 300 series “Panther Lake” CPUs, expected to launch in the second half of 2025, that are causing the most excitement.

The Coreboot patch sheds light on four different Panther Lake SKUs. These processors will utilize Intel’s latest Cougar Cove P-Cores and Skymont E-Cores. The Skymont E-Cores on Panther Lake are rumored to be optimized or possibly even updated, potentially leading to a naming change before the launch.

One of the standout features of the Panther Lake series is the integration of Intel’s third-generation Xe GPU architecture, codenamed Celestial. The Core Ultra 200V series “Lunar Lake” processors will be the first to debut with Xe2 “Battlemage,” promising a 50% performance uplift over the previous generation Core Ultra 100 series “Meteor Lake” CPUs and their Xe Alchemist GPUs.

Here’s a breakdown of the leaked Panther Lake SKU configurations:

*

Panther Lake-H:

*

45W TDP:

12-core (4P+8E) with 4 x Xe3 cores.
*

25W TDP:

16-core (4P+8E+4LPE) with either 12 x Xe3 or 4 x Xe3 cores.
*

Panther Lake-U:

*

15W TDP:

8-core (4P+4E) with 4 x Xe3 cores.

These leaks indicate a focus on delivering both high-performance and energy-efficient options within the Panther Lake lineup. The varying core counts, TDPs, and Xe3 GPU configurations suggest a diverse range of Panther Lake CPUs designed to meet the needs of different computing scenarios, from high-power gaming laptops to ultra-thin and light notebooks.
