The Sindh apex committee, led by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, has taken key decisions to address the increasing trends of street crimes, armed robberies, and kidnappings.
Monitoring of Stolen Goods
Special measures will be adopted to monitor the sale of stolen or snatched mobile phones and vehicles in the markets of Karachi.
Reactivation of Shaheen Force and Revamp of Madadgar-15
The police department has been directed to reactivate the Shaheen Force with a dedicated motorcycle squad. The force will patrol identified hotspots during peak hours.
Additionally, Madadgar-15 will be revamped to enhance the police force’s capabilities.
Strengthening Security on the River Indus
Police pickets will be established to strengthen the left bank of the River Indus and contain the dacoits within the katcha area.
E-Tagging of Repeat Offenders
A pilot project will be launched to implement e-tagging of repeat offenders using 4,000 devices.
Investigation of Robbery Cases
Special Investigation Units (SIUs) will be activated to investigate cases of robbery with murder, robbery, and injury.
Upgrade of Command and Control Centre
The command and control centre at the Central Police Office (CPO) will be upgraded with the installation of new and upgraded cameras.
Crackdown on Katcha Bandits
The Sindh government has constructed 107 police pickets along the left bank of the River Indus and deployed 759 police personnel. Efforts are underway to secure the right bank to protect the Shikarpur and Kashmore districts.
The meeting also discussed the establishment of police pickets on the side of the Punjab province in collaboration with authorities.
Joint Check Posts for Smuggling Prevention
The Ministry of Interior has notified 10 Joint Check Posts (JCPs) manned by Police, Rangers, Customs, and Agriculture Department personnel. The JCPs will be constructed and equipped on both sides of the road.
Anti-Narcotics Campaign
The police department has launched an awareness campaign in colleges and universities to combat drug abuse. Over 160 cases have been registered and several arrests have been made.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Sindh government, law enforcement agencies, and other concerned departments.
