Apple is reportedly gearing up to unveil the iPhone SE 4, its latest budget smartphone. According to The Elec, BOE will be the primary display provider, with LG Display acting as the secondary vendor. While details about the iPhone SE 4 have been scarce in recent months, this news is a welcome update, especially since the last model was released in March 2022. The upcoming iPhone SE 4 is expected to boast a larger 6.1-inch display, a significant upgrade from the current 4.7-inch model. This shift aligns the display size of the next iPhone SE with the current iPhone 15 and the forthcoming iPhone 16. The increased display size also paves the way for the inclusion of Face ID, effectively retiring the traditional home button and Touch ID authentication. Additionally, the next iPhone SE is anticipated to switch from Lightning to a USB-C port, mirroring the current iPhone models. Other anticipated features include a new chip, improved cameras, and a selection of new color options. While there’s no confirmed release date for the iPhone SE 4, it’s possible we could see it before the end of the year. However, given Apple’s past release patterns, a 2025 launch seems more likely. The original iPhone SE was introduced in 2016 with a compact 4-inch display, followed by the iPhone SE 2 in 2020 featuring a 4.7-inch screen. The current iPhone SE 3 followed two years later. Regardless of the iPhone SE’s release timeframe, we can expect new iPhones from Apple this year. The iPhone 16 series is expected to be announced in September.
