Iran’s Ambassador to India, Iraj Elahi, has expressed serious concerns regarding the ongoing political turmoil in Bangladesh, stating that the unrest poses a threat to the lives of the people, the country’s stability, and the stability of the entire region. Speaking to ANI news agency, Elahi emphasized Bangladesh’s importance in the region as a large Muslim country with longstanding ties to Iran. He expressed worry that if the crisis remains unresolved, it will have far-reaching consequences for the entire region.
Elahi went on to address the escalating situation in West Asia, particularly in the aftermath of the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh. He condemned Israel’s actions in Gaza and Lebanon, labeling them as continuous crimes. He stated that the assassination of Haniyeh, an official guest of Iran, was a terrorist act and highlighted the deteriorating situation in the region, with a significant loss of life and displacement of Palestinians.
The ambassador further accused the United States of providing unwavering support to Israel, particularly to Prime Minister Netanyahu, whom he blamed for the ongoing ‘genocide’ in Gaza. He highlighted the potential for this situation to further inflame tensions and sentiments across the region.
