Iranian President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi departed from Karachi Airport on Wednesday after completing his three-day visit to Pakistan. Before his departure, he was bid farewell by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori and Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah. President Raisi’s visit to Pakistan was a significant diplomatic event, as it marked the first visit by a head of state since the February 8 general election. During his stay in Pakistan, President Raisi met with President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, and Speaker of the National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf. He also held meetings with the chief ministers and governors of Sindh and Punjab provinces. In his address at a ceremony in Karachi, President Raisi highlighted the deep historical, cultural, and religious bonds between Pakistan and Iran. He stated that no external force could harm the strong relationship between the two nations. In recognition of his contributions to strengthening bilateral ties, the Sindh Governor, who also serves as the Chancellor of the University of Karachi, conferred an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy degree upon President Raisi. Governor Tessori emphasized the importance of fostering closer cooperation between Pakistan and Iran, particularly in the areas of trade and investment. President Raisi’s visit has reinforced the commitment of both countries to further enhance their relationship and work together for mutual benefit.
