Imagine having a device that could capture every precious moment of your life, creating a personalized timeline of your memories. That’s the promise of Iris, a groundbreaking new wearable device developed by Indian-origin founder Advait Paliwal.
Iris leverages the power of artificial intelligence to empower humans with what Paliwal calls ‘infinite memory.’ It does this by taking a picture every minute, automatically captioning each photo, and organizing them into a comprehensive timeline. This allows users to easily revisit and relive their experiences, even those long forgotten.
But Iris is more than just a memory keeper. It also features a unique ‘focus mode’ designed to combat distractions and help users stay on track with their goals. The device actively monitors user behavior and sends notifications to gently remind them to get back on task. For example, if you set a goal to read a book for 30 minutes, Iris will send you a reminder if you start doing something else.
The inspiration for Iris’s design comes from a surprising source: the evil eye, a powerful symbol found in Latin America and parts of Asia, said to ward off misfortune. Paliwal explains that he wanted to incorporate the symbol’s essence into a modern device, resulting in Iris’s circular shape with a centrally placed camera.
Iris is still in its early stages, but its potential is immense. By blending advanced technology with a user-friendly interface, Iris offers a glimpse into a future where we can not only preserve our memories but also better manage our time and focus on our goals.
