The Palestinian Ministry of Health and the Red Crescent reported that six Palestinians were killed and three others wounded in Israeli airstrikes on a car in the West Bank city of Tubas on Thursday. In addition, a separate incident saw a teenager shot dead by Israeli troops in the Far’a refugee camp, according to the Wafa news agency.
The Israeli army justified the airstrikes, stating in a statement that “Israeli Air Force aircraft conducted three targeted strikes on armed terrorists in the area of Tubas in the northern Jordan Valley.” They further claimed that the strikes were in response to “three different attacks” carried out by Palestinian fighters who “posed a threat” to their forces.
Palestinian medics reported that five people were killed and two were injured in the airstrike on the car. One person was critically injured. According to Wafa, Israeli soldiers fired several bullets at 16-year-old Majed Fida Abu Zeina in Far’a, allegedly “abused him and prevented ambulance crews from reaching him.” They then reportedly “dragged him out of the camp using a military bulldozer.” These actions by Israeli forces took place during a raid of the al-Ein refugee camp, west of the city of Nablus.
The conflicting accounts highlight the ongoing tension and violence in the West Bank. While Israel cites security concerns as justification for its actions, Palestinians accuse the Israeli military of excessive force and brutality. This tragic incident further fuels the ongoing conflict and raises concerns about the safety and wellbeing of civilians.
