Israeli Army Faces Backlash After Video Shows Wounded Palestinian Tied to Jeep Hood

A shocking video has emerged showing Israeli army forces tying a wounded Palestinian man to the hood of a military jeep during an arrest raid in the occupied West Bank city of Jenin on Saturday. The video, which has circulated widely on social media and was verified by Reuters, shows Mujahed Azmi, a Palestinian resident of Jenin, strapped to the jeep as it passes by two ambulances.

The Israeli military issued a statement acknowledging the incident, stating that Israeli forces had come under fire and exchanged shots, resulting in the wounding and apprehension of a suspect. However, the statement admitted that soldiers had violated military protocol by transporting the suspect tied on top of a vehicle.

The military condemned the actions, stating that the “conduct of the forces in the video of the incident does not conform to the values” of the Israeli military. They further emphasized that the incident will be investigated and addressed. The individual was subsequently transferred to medical personnel for treatment.

Reuters was able to confirm the location of the incident through corroborating and verified footage shared on social media, which depicts a vehicle carrying a tied individual in Jenin. The date of the incident was verified by an eyewitness interviewed by Reuters.

Azmi’s family confirmed the arrest raid and stated that he was injured during the operation. They alleged that when they requested an ambulance, the army took Mujahed, strapped him to the hood, and drove off.

The incident comes amid a surge in violence in the West Bank, which was already on the rise prior to the recent Israel-Hamas war in Gaza. The escalation has been marked by frequent army raids targeting militant groups, attacks by Jewish settlers on Palestinian villages, and deadly Palestinian street attacks. The video has sparked widespread condemnation and underscores the deeply troubled situation in the region.
