Tel Aviv, Israel – The director of the Israeli intelligence agency, the Mossad, has resigned following criticism over the failure to predict a series of attacks by Hamas militants that killed multiple Israelis in October.
The attacks, which occurred on October 7, targeted Israeli civilians in different parts of the country and resulted in several fatalities. The intelligence community had reportedly failed to provide sufficient warning about the impending attacks.
The Mossad director, whose identity remains classified, had been facing increasing pressure to step down in the wake of the attacks. Critics within Israel’s political and security establishment questioned the agency’s ability to effectively gather and analyze intelligence on potential threats.
The resignation of the Mossad director marks a significant development in the ongoing debate about the effectiveness of Israel’s intelligence agencies and their ability to keep the country safe from potential threats.
