Israeli Military Intelligence Head Resigns After Hamas Attack

The head of Israel’s military intelligence, Major General Aharon Haliva, has resigned following the failure to prevent Hamas’s attack on October 7th. Haliva admitted that his division did not live up to its task and carries the responsibility for the attack.

In a statement, Haliva said:

“At the beginning of the war, I expressed my desire to accept responsibility and finish my duties. Now, after more than six months, and at the same time as the investigations begin, I would like to end my position.”

“Until the end of my shift, I will do everything for the defeat of Hamas and those who want to harm us and the work for the return of the captives and the missing to their homes and land.”

The resignation comes amid reports of bodies being recovered from a mass grave in Gaza by Al Jazeera. The outlet reported that 180 bodies, including elderly women, children, and young men, were buried in the mass grave by the Israeli military.
