Yashasvi Jaiswal, the young Indian batter who shone in India’s recent T20I victory against Zimbabwe, has expressed his gratitude for the guidance of former captains Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. While acknowledging the incredible impact both legends have had on the team and his own development, Jaiswal emphasized his focus on the present and his own journey.
He sees his experience in Test cricket as a valuable asset in the shorter format, saying, “It does help to control emotions a lot and read the game better as there are different situations on the ground. And every time you talk to Rohit bhai or Virat bhaiyya, I get a lot of experience, enjoy talking to them and learning from them.”
Jaiswal, who scored an unbeaten 93 against Zimbabwe, displayed his growing prowess in T20s. He believes that practice is key to perfecting his game and that a calm mindset is essential for success. “My mindset is simple. If I have to take someone (a bowler) on, I will take him on and keep believing that I can do it,” Jaiswal stated.
Despite the rapid rise to stardom, Jaiswal remains grounded, taking each day as it comes. “To be honest, a lot of things happened in my life. I am really enjoying it. I just try take one day at a time and make sure I enjoy the moment which is very important. “Everything else is in God’s hands and whatever he gives, I will take it,” he concluded.
