Jakarta is gearing up to host the inaugural Wonderful Indonesia Tourism Fair (WITF), a landmark B2B tourism event, from October 2-4, 2024. This event, taking place at the Swissotel Jakarta PIK Avenue in the Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) area, marks a significant step in promoting Indonesia’s tourism industry on a global scale.
The strategic choice of Swissotel Jakarta PIK Avenue highlights the location’s convenient access to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport and its vibrant atmosphere, making it an ideal venue for a large-scale international event. WITF will also coincide with the Southeast Asia Business Event Forum (SEABEFF), which focuses on the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) sector. This parallel event further emphasizes Jakarta’s role as a leading destination for business tourism.
The driving force behind WITF 2024 is the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI), which is self-funding and operating the event with strong support from the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy. GIPI’s extensive network, encompassing nearly 40 domestic tourism organizations, local government officials, and various travel-related enterprises, ensures a robust foundation for the event’s success.
A nine-member committee, comprised of industry veterans, will meticulously select the participants for WITF 2024. The primary focus will be on individuals actively engaged in promoting Southeast Asian destinations, with a particular emphasis on those showcasing Indonesia’s diverse tourism offerings. This selective approach aims to cultivate meaningful connections and collaborations, ultimately benefiting the tourism industry within the region.
