Jammu Police Vows to Eliminate Foreign Terrorists in Next Few Months

Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police RR Swain has issued a strong statement, declaring that foreign terrorists operating in the Jammu region will be eliminated within the next two to three months. Speaking on Sunday, Swain emphasized that the police are committed to eradicating terrorism from the region, vowing to achieve this goal in the coming months.

He further stated that locals found supporting foreign terrorists will face severe consequences under the Enemy Agents Ordinance. This ordinance, which carries a minimum sentence of life imprisonment or death, is considered much harsher than the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and was introduced to counter Pakistani raiders or invaders in 1948. Swain emphasized that foreign mercenaries have no legitimate presence in the region, asserting that their sole purpose is to kill civilians, trigger civil unrest, destabilize the government, and force their ideology on the people.

In response to recent terror attacks, Swain highlighted that the police have made significant progress in investigations. He mentioned the arrest of six individuals in connection with the firing incident in Kathua district on June 12, with the case being handed over to the State Investigation Agency. He also confirmed that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the investigation into the June 9 terror attack on a pilgrim bus in Reasi district.

Addressing the presence of Pakistani regulars among the terrorists operating in the Jammu region, Swain stated that it makes little difference to the police’s strategy. He declared that all foreign fighters, regardless of their background or origin, are considered enemies and will be dealt with accordingly. He expressed confidence in the police’s ability to overcome the challenges posed by terrorism, highlighting the role of village defense guards, special police officers, and central armed forces in combating the threat.

Swain also announced the establishment of special courts for the trial of individuals arrested under the Enemy Agents Ordinance. He clarified that the burden of proof in these cases lies solely on proving the assistance provided to a foreign terrorist.

While acknowledging the recent attacks that have resulted in casualties, Swain expressed determination to minimize future losses through training, strategic planning, and tactical maneuvers. He declared that the police will ultimately defeat the enemy, dismissing any notion that they are hesitant due to fear of losses.
