Katie Gahamire, the CAA agent responsible for the sale of Dreaming Whilst Black to A24, has been appointed as Creative Director of Jax Media’s UK division, which is based in London. Gahamire replaces Molly Seymour, who has moved to BBC Studios. Jax Media, owned by Imagine Entertainment, has also hired former Disney Star executive Hussain Casey-Ahmed as Production Executive. These appointments are part of Jax’s strategy to expand its UK originals production, while continuing to produce U.S. projects from the UK. Since its launch, Jax UK has commissioned Channel 4’s Everyone Else Burns, starring Simon Bird, which has been picked up by The CW and renewed for a second season, as well as the BBC Three short form show Peck Eds. The hub also produced Clem Garritty’s Showtime pilot Jonah Kills. Gahamire spent the past six years working across the television and comedy departments at CAA, where she helped sign British writers and creators such as Ms. Marvel scribe Bisha K. Ali, Samson Kayo, and Jason Cook. She began her career in the UK comedy industry as a live producer for Mick Perrin Worldwide, the BBC, and Roughcut, where she worked under Jon Petrie’s Little A imprint, who is now the BBC’s comedy boss. Casey-Ahmed was previously a Production Executive for Disney Star, where he oversaw the greenlight, production, and delivery of various scripted dramas. He has recently produced the short film 7 Minutes directed by Ricky Gervais and the BBC’s Bad Education. Dave Binegar, Head of TV, and Jake Fuller, Head of Production at Imagine Entertainment, praised Gahamire and Casey-Ahmed’s appointments, highlighting their diverse experience in the UK film and TV industry and their commitment to collaboration. Seymour moved to BBC Studios’ Comedy Unit late last year to serve as Creative Director of the team that produces Inside No. 9 and Good Omens. Jax’s U.S. productions include Emily in Paris, Animal Control, and Russian Doll.
