HD Revanna, the leader of the Janata Dal (Secular) party, has been released from Parappana Agrahara Jail on May 14, after being granted conditional bail in connection with a kidnapping case.
Revanna was arrested on May 4 by Special Investigative Team (SIT) officials in a kidnapping case registered against him at KR Nagar police station in Bengaluru. The SIT is probing allegations of sexual abuse against HD Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna.
The case stems from a complaint filed by a woman who alleged that she was kidnapped and sexually abused by HD Revanna and his son Prajwal Revanna. The woman also alleged that she was threatened by the Revannas to withdraw her complaint.
HD Revanna has denied the allegations and has termed the case a “political conspiracy” against him. He has also accused the Karnataka government of misusing its office to target him.
The Karnataka government has denied the allegations of political vendetta and has said that the investigation into the case is being conducted in a fair and impartial manner.
Prajwal Revanna, the incumbent MP from Hassan Lok Sabha constituency, has fled the country after obscene videos of him allegedly sexually abusing several women surfaced. A Blue Corner notice has been issued against Prajwal Revanna at all airports in India, along with a Blue Corner notice.
A Blue Corner notice issued by Interpol helps countries collect and share information regarding a person’s location and their activities as part of a criminal investigation.
The Karnataka State Commission for Women has written to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah seeking an investigation into the obscene videos of Prajwal Revanna. The SIT has also issued summons to Prajwal Revanna to appear before it, but he has skipped the summons.
