Suraj Revanna, a member of the legislative council (MLC) from the Janata Dal (Secular) party and grandson of former Indian Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda, has been granted conditional bail by the People’s Representative Court. Revanna, who is also the brother of Prajwal Revanna, currently in jail for a separate sexual abuse case, was arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a man. The charges against him include Sections 377, 342, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.
The Karnataka Police had filed charges against Revanna based on a complaint lodged by a party worker at the Holenarasipura police station in Hassan district. The complainant accused Revanna of sexually assaulting him at his farmhouse on Saturday. The court, after considering the arguments presented by both the prosecution and the defense, decided to grant Revanna conditional bail. This decision comes as a relief for Revanna, but the investigation into the allegations against him continues.
