A Janata Dal (Secular) worker and his relative were booked for allegedly attempting to extort money from Suraj Revanna, the brother of Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of sexual assault. The accused, identified as Chethan KS and his brother-in-law, were charged with extortion, criminal intimidation, and involvement in a conspiracy.
The complaint was filed by Suraj Revanna’s close aide Shivakumar, who alleged that Chethan, after befriending him and working for the ‘Suraj Revanna Brigade,’ demanded money to cover his family expenses. When Shivakumar refused, Chethan allegedly threatened to file a false sexual assault case against Suraj, demanding ₹5 crore.
Suraj Revanna is the son of Holenarasipura MLA H D Revanna and the elder brother of former Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is currently in judicial custody for alleged sexual assaults on several women. Prajwal Revanna was recently arrested upon his arrival in Bengaluru from Germany and is facing charges of rape and sexual abuse.
Interestingly, Chethan himself has also filed a police complaint, accusing Suraj Revanna of sexual assault. This further adds to the complexity of the case.
Meanwhile, a special court in Bengaluru has remanded Prajwal Revanna to judicial custody until June 24th. The former MP had failed to retain the Hassan parliamentary constituency in the recent elections.
