Jennifer Lopez to Adapt Emily Henry’s ‘Happy Place’ for Netflix Series

Jennifer Lopez is expanding her presence on Netflix with a new project: a series adaptation of Emily Henry’s beloved novel ‘Happy Place’. This news comes after Lopez’s successful projects with Netflix, including starring in and producing ‘The Mother’ and ‘Atlas’.

‘Happy Place’, alongside Henry’s other popular books ‘Beach Read’ and ‘People We Meet on Vacation’, is currently being adapted for the screen. However, Lopez is opting for a series format for this particular story. Deadline reports that Netflix has secured the rights to ‘Happy Place’ for Lopez’s production company, Nuyorican Productions. Currently, producers and streaming executives are actively searching for writers to bring the story to life on the screen. Lopez, alongside her partners Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina, will be producing the series.

For those unfamiliar with the book, ‘Happy Place’ centers around Harriet and Wyn, a former couple who, after being together since college, abruptly call it quits. Despite seeming perfect for each other, they decide to make a pact: pretend to still be together during a week-long vacation with their unsuspecting best friends.

While the series adaptation is still in its early stages, it remains unclear whether Lopez will be taking on a starring role. Her previous Netflix projects, ‘The Mother’ and ‘Atlas’, saw her playing the lead characters.

Beyond Netflix, Lopez has been busy collaborating with other streaming platforms. Alongside releasing her album ‘This is Me… Now’, Lopez also starred in the Amazon Prime movie ‘This is Me… Now: A Love Story’ and the documentary ‘The Greatest Love Story Never Told’ which touched upon her rekindled relationship with Ben Affleck.
