Jerry Seinfeld makes his directorial debut with the upcoming Netflix comedy “Unfrosted,” a fictionalized account of the creation of Pop-Tarts toaster pastries. In a recent GQ interview, he reflected on his experience jumping into filmmaking for the first time. “It was totally new to me,” Seinfeld said. “I thought I had done some cool stuff, but it was nothing like the way these people work.” He marveled at their dedication but also noted the changing landscape of the entertainment industry. “Film doesn’t occupy the pinnacle in the social, cultural hierarchy that it did for most of our lives,” he said. “Now we’re walking through a fire hose of water, just trying to see.” Seinfeld believes that stand-up comedy has gained popularity because “it’s something you can’t fake.” He also recently appeared in the series finale of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and discussed the controversial ending of his own sitcom, “Seinfeld.” Despite some criticism, Seinfeld maintains that he doesn’t believe in regret. “Unfrosted” streams on Netflix beginning May 3rd.
