In a move to enhance animal welfare services in the region, Jersey City is expanding its animal control operations to neighboring municipalities. This initiative follows the city’s decision to resume animal control operations earlier this year.
The expansion will see Jersey City providing animal shelter and control services to the cities of Hoboken and Guttenberg throughout the year. These services will ensure the well-being of animals, respond to animal-related emergencies, and maintain a safe environment for the residents of all three cities.
The contracts for these services have been drafted, with Hoboken set to pay $100,000 and Guttenberg $11,000. These contracts are currently pending approval by the Jersey City Council, which is expected to vote on them on Wednesday.
This expansion of animal control services is part of Jersey City’s ongoing commitment to providing essential services to its residents and neighboring communities. By collaborating with Hoboken and Guttenberg, Jersey City aims to establish a comprehensive animal welfare system that benefits both humans and animals in the Hudson County region.
