The New York Jets have found a solution to their Zach Wilson dilemma. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Jets and Denver Broncos will split Wilson’s guaranteed salary in 2024, the final year of his rookie contract.
Each team will contribute $2.75 million towards Wilson’s salary, which is a significant savings for the Jets. In addition, the Jets will receive a sixth-round pick in exchange for Wilson and a seventh-round pick.
The trade is a win-win for both teams. The Jets save money and clear a path for their top draft pick, while the Broncos acquire a potential starting quarterback at a reduced cost. Wilson, meanwhile, gets a fresh start and a chance to prove himself in a new environment.
