The New York Jets made a trade Thursday night. It just wasn’t one that led to a splashy move. Instead, Jets general manager Joe Douglas traded back one spot to No. 11 to take Penn State tackle Olu Fashanu. It was an important, if not headline-making, addition. But Douglas trade to be bold, according to SNY’s Connor Hughes. The #Jets made attempts to trade up in the #NFLDraft, multiple sources told @snytv. They were unsuccessful. The #Giants & #Bears were locked on Malik Nabers & Rome Odunze. The Giants selected at No. 6 and the Bears at No. 9.
Did Douglas talk to Falcons GM Terry Fontenot about the No. 8? That’s where he reached for the most surprising pick of the first round, quarterback Michael Penix Jr. One would have to think Douglas did his due diligence.
What did the Jets want? Most likely it was tight end Brock Bauers or a wide receiver to pair with WR Garrett Wilson.
