JetZero Enlists Aerospace Veteran Rob Dewar to Lead its Blended Wing Body Revolution

Long Beach, California – September 10, 2024 – JetZero, a company spearheading the development of the world’s first commercial blended wing body (BWB) airplane, has announced the appointment of Rob Dewar to its Board of Directors. Dewar, a renowned aerospace innovator with a 38-year career in the industry, joins JetZero after a distinguished tenure at Airbus, where he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of the A220 aircraft program, formerly known as the Bombardier CSeries.

Dewar’s leadership in the aerospace industry is deeply rooted in his proven track record of success. He spearheaded the complete development, certification, and market launch of the A220, a testament to his expertise in defining, developing, and delivering aircraft programs. His career at Bombardier also included senior leadership roles in developing iconic aircraft, such as the Bombardier Challenger and Global Express Business Jets, the Canadair Regional Jet family, and the Airbus A321 and A330.

Dewar’s enthusiasm for JetZero’s mission is evident: “I could not be more excited to join JetZero and help bring the blended wing body (BWB) to market,” he stated. “I believe in this airplane and its ability to significantly reduce the industry’s environmental footprint and operating costs. There is no doubt it will change the future of aviation.”

Recognized for his exceptional contributions to civil aviation, Dewar received the prestigious Aviation Week Laureates Award in 2017 and the Air Transport World’s Aviation Achievement Award in 2019. His addition to JetZero’s Board further strengthens the company’s leadership, bringing unparalleled experience and a deep understanding of the industry’s challenges and opportunities.

Tom O’Leary, co-founder and chief executive officer of JetZero, expressed his confidence in Dewar’s appointment: “Rob is really the best possible person to join this board having just engineered the last great product launch in the industry with the CSeries/A220,” he said. “His skill and experience are the perfect fit for our team as we look to deliver the future everyone wants for aviation.”

JetZero’s innovative BWB aircraft promises a 50% reduction in fuel burn and carbon emissions compared to traditional commercial airliners. This game-changing technology presents a clear path for the aviation industry to achieve its ambitious net-zero goals by 2050. With the support of the U.S. Air Force, NASA, and the FAA, and backed by decades of investment and research into blended wing technology, JetZero aims to bring its revolutionary aircraft into commercial service by 2030.

Dewar’s arrival on JetZero’s Board of Directors signals a significant step forward in the company’s mission to redefine the future of aviation. His leadership, combined with JetZero’s cutting-edge BWB technology, promises a cleaner, more sustainable future for air travel.
