Jharkhand Schools to Reopen on May 13 After Heatwave Closure

The Jharkhand government has issued an order allowing all schools to reopen from May 13th onwards. This decision comes after the suspension of classes up to grade 8 due to a severe heatwave that began on April 29th. According to the order issued by the School Education and Literacy Department, classes above kindergarten in government, non-government aided and non-aided schools, and all private schools will resume as per the regular schedule starting May 13th.

Recent rainfall has provided much-needed relief from the heatwave, with most parts of the state receiving sporadic light to moderate rainfall for the past two days. The Met Department has indicated that maximum temperatures in large parts of Jharkhand are likely to remain unchanged for the next three to four days.

Classes for grades 9-12 had been allowed to continue from 7 am to 11.30 am, excluding prayer meetings, sports, and other activities. The resumption of classes for all grades will bring a sense of normalcy back to the education system in Jharkhand.
