Jill (née Duggar) and husband Derick Dillard shared an emotional tribute via social media on April 23rd, four days after the burial of their stillborn daughter, Isla. The couple expressed their enduring love for Isla, stating, “Isla Marie, our baby girl, we will love you forever & hold you in our hearts until we hold you in heaven.”
In their social media post, Jill and Derick provided insight into the significance behind their daughter’s name. Isla means “devoted to God,” and Marie signifies a “wished for child and beloved.” The memorial service program included images of items meant for baby Isla, such as clothes, books, teething rings, bottles, and toys, all lovingly displayed at the service.
Earlier in the month, Jill and Derick shared the tragic news of Isla’s death in utero. Jill, who was four months pregnant and due in August, expressed her anticipation and love for their fourth child from the beginning, stating, “From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby.” She also mentioned how her three older brothers, Israel, Samuel, and Frederick, were “so excited to introduce her to their world.”
Jill and Derick expressed their gratitude for the support and prayers they received as they navigate through their period of mourning, concluding, “We appreciate your prayers as we continue to grieve and heal from the loss of our little Isla Marie.” Family and friends quickly left their condolences on the post, expressing their sympathy and love for the grieving couple.
Jill and Derick, who married in June 2014 and started their family the following year, have previously experienced a pregnancy loss between their second and third children. They named their late baby boy River Bliss.
