Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard Mourn the Loss of Stillborn Daughter, Isla

Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard laid their stillborn daughter, Isla Marie, to rest on Friday. Four days later, the “Counting On” alums shared photos from the funeral service on Instagram, along with a heartfelt caption expressing their love for their late child: “Isla Marie, our baby girl. We will love you forever & hold you in our hearts until we hold you in heaven.”

The carousel of photos offered a glimpse into the program from the memorial and burial service, which included insights into Isla’s name. According to the couple, Isla stands for “devoted to God,” while her middle name reflects her status as a “wished for child and beloved.”

In addition to the photos of the service, Duggar and Dillard also shared pictures of the items they displayed in honor of Isla, including clothes, books, teething rings, bottles, and toys. They captioned these photos with a simple heart emoji, expressing their love and longing for their daughter.

Duggar and Dillard had previously revealed their tragic loss earlier in April. In an Instagram post on April 13, they wrote: “Jill was 4 months pregnant (due in August) when we found out that our baby died in utero. From the moment we found out we were pregnant, we couldn’t wait to meet our baby.”

They continued: “Isla was much loved from the start, and her 3 big brothers were so excited to introduce her to their world.” The couple concluded their post by asking for prayers as they grieve the loss of their little Isla Marie.

Duggar and Dillard have received an outpouring of support from family members and fans in the wake of their loss. Duggar’s sister, Jinger Duggar, commented on the Instagram post, writing: “Sweet little Isla will be missed.” Cousin Amy King also expressed her condolences, praising Isla’s “beautiful name and meaning.”

Duggar is estranged from her parents, Jim Bob Duggar and Michelle Duggar. She shared her story last year in her memoir, “Counting the Cost.”
