Jiyue, the electric vehicle manufacturer established through a partnership between Baidu, Inc. (BIDU) and Geely Holding Group, has begun pre-sales for its second model, the Jiyue 07 electric sedan. The official launch is scheduled for next month.
Jiyue initiated pre-sales for the Jiyue 07 on Wednesday, with a starting price of RMB215,900 ($30,300). The model is set to officially launch on September 10th. In China, the typical process for launching a new electric vehicle model includes unveiling, pre-sales, and a formal launch, allowing for an extended marketing period.
The Jiyue 07 is a C-class all-electric sedan and represents the brand’s second model, following the Jiyue 01 SUV. It boasts impressive dimensions, measuring 4,953 mm in length, 1,989 mm in width, and 1,475 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,013 mm. This makes it larger than the latest Tesla Model 3, which measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,848 mm in width, 1,442 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,875 mm.
The Jiyue 07 will be equipped with the official Apollo 2.0 smart driving system, which typically costs RMB29,900. However, for a limited time, customers can purchase the system at a discounted price of RMB4,999.
In trading on Thursday, BIDU shares saw an increase of 2.11%, closing at $84.10.
