Alleging deep-rooted corruption and exploitation within the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance in Jharkhand, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on May 10 vowed that the ruling coalition would face consequences for its alleged atrocities against the state’s residents. Addressing a rally in Dumka, Singh asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stood firmly against corruption and injustice, pledging to punish the JMM-led alliance for its misdeeds.
Singh further highlighted the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in tackling poverty, contrasting them with the purported failures of previous prime ministers. He lauded Modi’s efforts, claiming that he had worked tirelessly to bring India to prosperity, lifting 25 crore people out of poverty. Singh emphasized the significant economic progress made under BJP rule, stating that India had risen from 11th to 5th position in global economic prosperity rankings. He expressed optimism that India would soon become the third most prosperous nation, following the United States and China.
Urging the people of Jharkhand to support BJP candidate Sita Soren in the upcoming elections, Singh declared that the BJP’s symbol, the lotus, represented justice and humanity. He called on the electorate to vote against the incumbent Hemant Soren, whom he accused of damaging Jharkhand’s reputation. Singh appealed to the people to seek revenge for the alleged atrocities committed against them by voting for the BJP.
During his speech, Singh inadvertently referred to Sita Soren as Kalpana Soren, the wife of jailed former Chief Minister Hemant Soren. Sita Soren, who is the sister-in-law of Hemant Soren, was a JMM-MLA from Jama before joining the BJP prior to the Lok Sabha polls. She is currently contesting against Nalin Soren of the JMM, with sitting MP Sunil Soren also present at the rally.
