A chilling case of murder and dismemberment has sent shockwaves through the city of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Anita Chaudhary, a 50-year-old beautician, was found brutally murdered on October 26th, allegedly at the hands of a gambling addict who targeted her for her jewelry.
The accused, Gulamuddin Farooqi, who owned a dry-cleaning shop near the victim’s beauty parlor, is believed to have been driven by his gambling debts, which amounted to a staggering ₹ 12 lakh. Farooqi, reportedly known to Anita for 25 years, hatched a sinister plan with his wife, Abida, to lure the victim to their house under the pretense of a friendly visit.
On October 26th, Anita, unaware of the deadly trap laid out for her, went to Farooqi’s residence in a taxi. The couple then allegedly offered her a drink laced with sedatives, rendering her unconscious. Following this, they brutally killed her, stripped her of her jewelry, and dismembered her body using a meat-cutting knife before burying the remains in a pit outside their home.
The gruesome discovery came to light after Anita’s husband filed a missing person report. Abida, during questioning, revealed the horrifying truth, leading police to the burial site. While Abida has been apprehended, a manhunt is underway to capture Farooqi.
The investigation, aided by CCTV footage and the taxi driver who dropped Anita at the accused’s residence, paints a grim picture of a meticulously planned and executed crime. The authorities are now meticulously piecing together the events leading up to the murder, examining the motives behind the heinous act and the role played by both Farooqi and his wife.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the dangers lurking within our communities, highlighting the vulnerability of individuals and the need for heightened vigilance in the face of increasingly complex criminal activities.
