John Bolton Warns of Potential Trump Election Refusal: ‘He Never Loses’

John Bolton, former National Security Advisor, has expressed serious concerns about the potential for Donald Trump to refuse to accept the results of the upcoming presidential election if he is defeated. In a recent interview with CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, Bolton indicated that Trump might not concede, stating, “No, I don’t think so.” This statement comes amidst a surge in pre-election litigation, a trend Bolton views as positive. He argues that the more issues are addressed in court before the election, the smoother the process will be.

Bolton highlighted the numerous voting and election cases currently pending across the country, stating, “At least now, some of this litigation is filed beforehand, and we’re getting results, some favorable to Trump, some not favorable to Trump. It’s taking those issues off the table.” As of now, over 200 such cases are pending, as reported by Marc Elias, a key figure in Vice President Harris’s election litigation team.

Both the Republican and Democratic parties have filed numerous legal challenges, encompassing issues like proof-of-citizenship requirements and mail-in ballot deadlines. The Supreme Court has also been actively involved in several election-related disputes recently.

Bolton emphasized the importance of preparedness, particularly if Trump does not secure victory. He said, “But I think everybody ought to be ready. Because Trump never loses. And if he loses, it’s because it’s stolen. So, it will be difficult.”

Vice President Kamala Harris echoed Bolton’s sentiments earlier this week, confirming that her team is prepared for any premature victory claims by the GOP nominee.

The potential refusal of a presidential candidate to accept defeat raises significant concerns regarding political instability and potential legal disputes. The increase in pre-election litigation signifies a heightened level of scrutiny and challenge to the election process, which could potentially impact the smooth conduct of the election and its aftermath. The preparedness of both parties, as emphasized by Bolton and Harris, is crucial in navigating any potential disputes and ensuring a peaceful transition of power.
