Once considered lost forever, John Lennon’s prized Framus 12-string Hootenanny acoustic guitar has resurfaced in a remarkable discovery. This iconic instrument, meticulously preserved in a British attic for over half a century, played a pivotal role in the creation of The Beatles’ beloved ‘Help!’ album and film. Its reappearance has sent shockwaves through the music world, with experts anticipating it to surpass the current world record for the most expensive Beatles guitar ever sold at auction.
Darren Julien, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Julien’s Auctions, expressed his astonishment, comparing the find to the rediscovery of a lost masterpiece. He described the guitar as being in pristine condition, despite its lengthy concealment, and attributed its preservation to the fortuitous attic environment.
Before going under the hammer, the guitar will embark on a public display tour. Music enthusiasts can marvel at this musical treasure at London’s Hard Rock Cafe Piccadilly Circus from April 23-29 and New York’s Hard Rock Cafe from May 22-28. The highly anticipated auction will take place from May 29-30, where collectors and fans alike will eagerly compete to own a piece of Beatles history.
