Stewart expressed frustration over the media’s obsession with court sketches, wondering why such sketches were being analyzed as if they held significant meaning. He likened it to analyzing a famous painting like ‘The Last Supper’ and speculating on the emotional state of Jesus based on his expression without considering the broader context of the artwork.
Stewart lamented that the media’s tendency to sensationalize every aspect of the trial risks diminishing their credibility when truly important and revelatory information emerges. He warned that by constantly presenting trivial matters as earth-shattering events, the media risks undermining their ability to effectively communicate genuine news.
Stewart concluded by reminding the media that this is only the first of Trump’s numerous upcoming trials and urged them to pace themselves. He advised them to consider how they would cover future trials and how they would approach the task of reflecting on their coverage of Trump’s presidency.
