Judge’s Homer Helps Yankees Beat A’s

In a thrilling game at home, the New York Yankees secured a 7-3 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday night. Leading the charge for the Yankees was Aaron Judge, who blasted a two-run homer in the first inning, putting his team on the board early. The home run marked Judge’s 261st career homer, surpassing former captain Derek Jeter for ninth place on the Yankees’ all-time list.

Anthony Rizzo and Juan Soto also contributed to the Yankees’ offensive success, each hitting a home run of their own. Anthony Volpe added an RBI triple, while Alex Verdugo drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. The Yankees’ relentless offense proved too much for the Athletics, who struggled to keep up despite a three-run homer from Brent Rooker in the sixth inning.

Starting pitcher Clarke Schmidt pitched 5 1/3 innings for the Yankees, allowing three runs on four hits. Oakland starter Joe Boyle gave up two runs on three hits in three innings. The Yankees’ bullpen held the Athletics scoreless for the final 3 2/3 innings, securing the victory for New York.

With this win, the Yankees improve to 5-2 in their last seven games while the Athletics fall to 1-6 in their last seven. The two teams will face off again on Thursday night in the second game of their three-game series.
