Julia Garner, the three-time Emmy winner, has signed on to star in the upcoming action-thriller ‘Weapons’ from New Line Cinema. Josh Brolin is also set to appear in the film, which is directed by Zach Cregger, the writer and director of the critically acclaimed 2022 horror film ‘Barbarian.’
‘Barbarian,’ distributed by 20th Century Studios, topped the box office upon its release and garnered a 93% Rotten Tomatoes critics score. With a production budget of $4.5 million, the film grossed over $45 million worldwide.
Garner, who earned three Supporting Actress Drama Emmys for her portrayal of Ruth Langmore in the Netflix series ‘Ozark,’ is currently filming Blumhouse/Universal’s ‘Wolf Man’ alongside Christopher Abbott. She also stars in Paramount’s upcoming psychological thriller ‘Apartment 7A.’
The actress is set to join the cast of Marvel Studios’ ‘Fantastic Four’ as the iconic Silver Surfer opposite Pedro Pascal, Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach. Additionally, Garner boasts an impressive list of film credits, including ‘The Assistant,’ ‘The Royal Hotel,’ ‘Grandma,’ ‘One Percent More Humid,’ ‘Tomato Red,’ ‘We Are What We Are,’ ‘Electrick Children,’ ‘Martha Marcy May Marlene,’ and ‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.’
Garner’s television credits include ‘Inventing Anna,’ ‘Modern Love,’ ‘Maniac,’ ‘Dirty John,’ and ‘The Americans.’ The actress is represented by UTA, LBI Entertainment, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Cregger will serve as the director and producer of ‘Weapons,’ along with his producing team from ‘Barbarian,’ which includes Vertigo’s Roy Lee, J.D. Lifshitz, and BoulderLight Pictures’ Raphael Margules. Vertigo’s Miri Yoon will also contribute to the production.
