Operation Blue Star: 40th Anniversary
June 6, 2023, marks the 40th anniversary of Operation Blue Star, an Indian Army operation launched to neutralize Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who had taken refuge in the Harmandir Sahib Complex in Amritsar, Punjab. The operation resulted in extensive damage to the holy site and casualties on both sides, including the death of Bhindranwale on June 6, 1984.
