Justin Langer Responds to Reports of BCCI Approach for India Head Coach Role
Justin Langer has commented on reports that the BCCI has contacted him regarding the position of head coach for the Indian cricket team. Langer acknowledged the prestige of the role and its associated challenges. He expressed his uncertainty about his availability to commit to the demanding schedule of the Indian team, suggesting a desire for a break after his tenure with the Australian cricket team.
“It would almost be the biggest job in cricket – being the head coach of the Indian cricket team,” Langer said. However, he emphasized the immense pressure involved in coaching the Indian team: “The pressure on winning for the Indian team is massive.”
Langer also hinted at the possibility of other candidates being better suited for the job at this time: “I’m sure the next person who gets the job will be really looking forward to the project.”
Apart from Langer, former India opener Gautam Gambhir’s name has also been discussed for the head coach role. The deadline to submit applications for the position is May 27th, and the shortlisted candidates will be called for interviews by the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee.
